I am an Asian-American college student majoring in Technical Communications at the University of Washington. My Spring Quarter 05 Schedule: posTComm, TC 403, TC 407, ARCH 251, ESS 495.
All I need to do is find a PAID summer internship and I'm set!
Oh, and to Aimee and anyone else who is wondering about "Diane's Cutie"....you'll just have to go to the source and ask her. Cuz I live with her and I happen to like being alive.

Today has been pretty awesome. I skipped my morning classes so I got more sleep, then when I took my physics midterm, I didn't run out of time. Amazing I know. AND I didn't get stomach cramps due to nervousness either. So hopefully I did decently on it. Certainly no guarantees. Then I got out of water lab an hour earlier and got to hang out and eat good food with a bunch of awesome friends and the Gospel choir concert rocked! I always get so excited to see so many people that I love all in one place and meshing and praising the Lord. It's so beautiful. I seriously wanted to go through the entire choir and hug everyone. Then afterwards we went and got bubble tea!! Yay! I had a peach mango. And Rachel and Ryan are now officially not Bubble Tea virgins anymore. Then, fun, fun, I spent an hour and a half talking Dan's ear off about my day and then we got into a good spiritual discussion about listening to God and hearing Him speak, directly and indirectly through other means. Talking is really great, it's a good airing of the synapses. It always makes me wonder though, what other people talk about when they talk about me. Obviously it can't all be good things.

In lieu of sending out another mass e-mail, I thought I'd just post this as a blog and whoever cares can do something about how much this goes against the Bill of Rights, specifically, the 1st Amendment.
Subject: Stop Media Monopoly
Dear friend,
On June 2, the Federal Communications Commission is planning on
authorizing sweeping changes to the American news media. The rules
change could allow your local TV stations, newspaper, radio stations,
and cable provider to all be owned by one company. NBC, ABC, CBS and
Fox could have the same corporate parent. The resulting concentration
of ownership could be deeply destructive to our democracy.
Congress is supposed to guard against monopoly power. But the
upcoming rule change could change the landscape for all media and
usher in an era in which a few corporations control your access to
news and entertainment. Please join me in asking Congress and the
FCC to support a diverse, competitive media landscape by going to:
You can also automatically have your comments publicly filed at the
FCC.
When the folks at MoveOn.org talk to Congresspeople about this issue,
the response is usually the same: "We only hear from media lobbyists on
this. It seems like my constituents aren't very concerned with this
issue." A few thousand emails could permanently change that perception.
Please join this critical campaign, and let Congress know you care.
So...that math quiz that I studied for....didn't happen. First off, Rachel comes in and drags me off to math class at least 7 minutes earlier than normal for me. And then we sit there and wait, and wait, and wait....and wait some more. Yeah, my math TA never showed up. SO dumb! I was pretty much all freaking out and Rachel was like, hey, it's cool, no quiz! Maybe he's lying in a gutter somewhere. And I'm like, where is he? How are we going to get the time to make this up? I'm going to forget everything! Why did he have to pick today of all days to sleep in? And then I didn't want to leave, I was still clinging on to the hope that yes, he still might make it and we might get to take that damn quiz after all. So then Rachel had to drag me out and smack some sense into me. I think I'm okay now, I'm over that momentary burst of crazied insanity. AHHHHHH, it was probably going to be the easiest quiz this entire quarter too!!! Okay, well, I guess I can hope that he'll be so embarrassed that he didn't make it, that he'll give us all full points. Right.

Well, I felt I was somewhat productive today. I studied physics for the midterm on Friday and for math quiz. So my Chem midterm...did better than everyone I talked to, but it's still a 2.0. Ouch huh? Once again, it's sad that the class isn't curved. Anyway, I feel I took it quite well, slightly disappointed of course, but not devastated or anything. The girl sitting in front of me was crying though, she wants to get into BioE. Good thing I'm not going that route. In the same mindframe as Steve, I think I could still end up doing pretty much the same things as someone coming out with a BioE degree. As long as I keep on getting lots of great summer interships, it'll be all good.
Bioengineering Degree - (insane workload + sleepless nights + crazy classes like CSE142 & EE & ChemE)^stress = Biology Degree
Currently in MGH Honors Lounge, killing some time before Chem quiz section...gonna get my midterm back today. The morning was fine, I had a bunch of crazy dreams and then during my hour break (right now), I went to Odegaard and had a Chicken Ranch sandwich outside, and it was good. This crow kept on staring at me though :P. I saw Diane's Cutie ;). Looked like he was studying or something, so I sat down with him and started talking and told him all about how obsessed Diane was with him. j/k. Wouldn't that have been hilarious though? For me at least ;).

What's with Memorial Day and traffic?! ARG!!! It took Diane and I SIX (6) hours to get back to UW. Insane. There was virtually no reason for the traffic jam either, it was just backed up due to an enormous amount of cars. Blah.
Two and a half weeks. Till the end of my first year at UW. I can't wait for it to be over so I can be in Dan's arms again. Soy triste. Ich bin traurig. Je suis triste.
Sorry I haven't blogged in a while! I was going to make one before I left on Friday but I was too busy cleaning the room, then I took a shower then before I knew it, Dan and my parents showed up. :) Yup, I got to spend an entire 4 hours in the car with Dan talking and making out :D. It took probably at least four hours because the traffic jam was sooo terrible. Everyone's rushing to get away for Memorial Day weekend. But in my point of view, it wasn't long enough. The last time that we had that much time to just sit and talk was when I drove up with Dan and his dad to drop him off at school over spring break. It was fun, he gave me the entire run down of the whole Star Trek history. I'm DEFINITELY not a fan of Star Trek, but I was kind of confused about why there's so many different names. It turns out that there's been different series. It started off with the original Star Trek, then moved on to Star Trek Next Generation, then Star Trek Deep Space 9, then Star Trek Voyager, then finally, the series that's going on right now is Star Trek Enterprise. So, I certainly learned something there. Now I can talk StarTrekkie as well as the next person ;), and as Diane knows, it's all about what cool words you can put into a sentence that makes sense. His family likes Star Trek quite a bit, they even go and buy the special Star Trek Christmas Ornaments, most of which if you press a button, will talk and/or light up.
So yeah, I'm back in the good ol' Tri-Cities for the weekend. Dan, his brother, his dad and I went to go see Matrix Reloaded today! I was super excited and yeah, I though it was pretty cool. Although I'm not obsessed with it like Diane, I'd have to agree with most everyone that it was definitely a mindjob. And yes, it was a little contrived at parts but I love the love. And while I can see some points where you could relate it to something in Bible, it's kind of still weird. It was great being able to see it with Dan too, there's no one else I'd rather sit next to.
I had dinner with Dan and his family and a few of his relatives at the Double Dragon resturant tonight and his grandma gave me a cute purse! When I get back to UW, I'll take a picture of it and post it. I like it a lot since it's big so I can tote lotta stuff around like my Bible. It's not going to help my resolution to try to pack lightly though...it seems my need to be well-prepared always wins out and I end up packing a lot of stuff.
It seems like every time I come home something has changed, new things pop up, my brother's voice got deeper, the roses are blooming...it's kind of fun though, going around and being like oh, you guys got new rugs, oh, there's a new plant, oh, a new vase, oh, a new table, oh, a new clock. Or even better, oh, you bought me something! :D Like my grandma bought me a cool pearl necklace and bracelet. And I'm looking forward to going to my two churches tomorrow. Bright and early for Bethel, then afternoon Chinese Church. Then it's time to party! :) :) :)
