I am an Asian-American college student majoring in Technical Communications at the University of Washington. My Spring Quarter 05 Schedule: posTComm, TC 403, TC 407, ARCH 251, ESS 495.
All I need to do is find a PAID summer internship and I'm set!
I made it back! I'm quite safe, un-sick, and very happy, due to the fact that I spent all day with Dan. How was my trip to East Asia you ask? Well, a quick rundown is in order, with the longer version due much later. Don't ask me when pictures are going to be up either. That'll have to depend on how much time I have the first week. If anyone is interested, I am planning to give a quick personal blurb on how the trip personally affected me at the CRU Large Group this Thursday, Jan. 8th. I don't know when CRU starts, nor can I give you very good directions and for some reason I think their website is down, but the address is www.cru-uw.org So yeah, find a CRUer and go. If you're an IVer, I think you'll still be able to make it to IV's Large Group, just a little late like say at 9:30ish.
The Official Top Ten Events of Feiya's trip to East Asia (in order of occurance)
1. My luggage didn't make it onto one of the connecting flights. I had to wait 3 days for it.
2. On my first time talking with the students, the first student we talked to, Jenny, prayed to receive Christ!
3. Rode on a cycle rickshaw to the library.
4. Rode on a bike myself and nearly overturned due to running over a bag of rice because a white car was right next to me.
5.Helped to put on a Christmas party at Flash Electronics which was a 1/2 hour ride from where we were staying. Gave away some postcards and also the butterfly clips that I had in my hair because they wanted something 'American'...I was going to give them some dollar bills but they refused.
6. After the big Christmas Eve Dinner, my whole group sang "Silent Night" and "Hark the Angels Sing" to this room full of middle aged men and their families, either it was a huge family, or it was a mini-business meeting thing, all complete strangers. Then John, Chris, & I stayed behind and shared the Good News with all of them...yeah, in the middle of a resturant, I guess they could have turned out to be all hardcore commies, but they were nice, and asked some good questions.
7. Went sharing with Li Jing, a senior at the University, and saw 2 girls come to Christ.
8. Everyone, except for Christine, Bri, and I, went out clubbing Christmas night.
9. Had a McDonald's Happy Meal in Shanghai.
10. Shared the Good News with the cab driver that drove me to my uncle's house, and also with my uncle's family.
Top Five Events at the CRU Winter Conference
1. Played Around the World Ping-Pong.
2. Played Uno in the elevator until 2:30 AM
3. Shared the Good News with a Buddist monk, a lesbian, and a 42 yr old woman who is either in a band or an artist and she gave me a kiss on the cheek.
4. Performed a lip-sync dance routine to Enrique Iglesias' "Escape" in front of the entire conference.
5. Worshiped my way into the New Year by screaming/singing "Everybody, everybody, everybody praise the Lord" and jumping up and down, sang some more, and then eventually played more uno on the 8th floor by the elevators and went to bed at 5 AM.
What is the one main thing that I learned out of all of this? It can be summed up in the lyrics of the song "You Said" by Reuben Morgan
You said, "Ask and I'll give the nations to you."
O Lord, that's the cry of my heart.
Distant shores and the islands will see
Your light as it rises on us.
