So here's how the visit from Josh and Garrett went:

--Garrett slept while Josh is busting his chops trying to find a ride.--

--Garrett realizing that I'm taking a picture of him. He doesn't like pictures very much.--

--Dan's friend Josh was on the phone the whole time trying to find a ride down to the ferry.--

--Josh is the crazy triathalon-lover who made Garrett walk all the way from the Space Needle to Haggett.--

It was one of the most interesting visits that I've had.

So not setting the alarm clock means I wake up at around noon. I had a nice lunch with Diane then came back here to clean the room and do pretty much everything housekeeping-ish that I've been putting off for two weeks! Defrosted the fridge, that took an hour or so, then put away clothes and wiped some of the floor down. I called home and talked to David and my mom for a while, he went to a math competition this morning and his team placed 4th. And now apparently I think I have a little bit of time to do the dishes before Dan's friends Garrett and Josh come to visit me...yeah, it was a last minute thing, hopefully they don't get lost, they called me to get directions when they were at the Seattle Center.

Maybe I'll get some time later to actually do school related stuff---like that brainstorming I was talking about lol ;).

For as long as the creative juices flow, I'm going to be helping my good buddy Irvin out by writing an article/some type of readable content once a month. Here's this month's, on V-day stuff.

Ahhhh, being done with midterms is gooooooooddddddd. Hung out with Christina today, had a nice lunch, then came back played Halo, took a short break to find the 3 texts I'm going to hopefully use to construct a paper, then had WingZone, then went to the awesome Chamber Dance Company 2004 Winter Dance Concert. Some really beautiful dance, funny, and of course creative and innovative. Loved it. Exciting. Then when I came back, my floor was watching Bruce Almighty and they were only about 1/2 into it, so I stayed and watched it and watched Underworld as well. And now it's 2ish. Diane's in bed like a good girl, and ;) I'm here. Blogging. Must spend rest of weekend writing that essay though and staying caught up in classes :).

I am so pleased with myself.

I went to a TA's Office Hours for CSE 142 to ask about some of the code in my program, I went through it really quickly at lunch so I'd know what the heck I'm asking about and I got a lot of things cleared up. Basically, my program worked...but sucked at the same time. But now it is SO BEAUTIFUL!! Scarily, I think I'm sounding a little like Diane when she's half-crazied after 3 days straight of programming and no sleep. But I'm like wow, I can't believe it, in one sense, it does so much, in another sense, it does absolutely nothing at all and is completely worthless. Now if ONLY I could ace the tests.

In other news, yay! No English class tomorrow...however, we just got our midterm paper assigned and we're supposed to submit the 3 pieces of reading that we're going to draw from to do our essay by Friday. So I should wake up tomorrow and brainstorm. And ahhhhh, the bio midterm is Friday....it's going to really suck. It's so hard to keep the RNA, DNA, plasmids, mutations, enzymes...etc. straight.

Yay!! Josh H. got me racquetballs! Now, if I had the urge, I could go play. You rock dude! Anyone up for a game? ;)

I was going to blog this soon after it happened but I got sidetracked doing something more productive like reading Bio. But for real, I finished my CS project!! SIX days before it's due too. It still looks a little funny, but it works :D. Too bad I got a crap grade on the CS midterm though :P. I need to spend some time soon writing out a 300 word abstract about my PNNL research last summer. I want to have a poster in the 7th Undergraduate Research Symposium. However, this requires my mentors to sign the abstract as well, so I think I'll have to e-mail it to them and then have them mail it back to me...yeah, that sucks. The deadline is March 1st too. Anyway, hopefully I'll get it done and it'll be rockin' and you all will have to drop by on that day and check out my poster :). I literally freaked out though when I found out it's only supposed to be 300 words...in one sense, that's good right? Short, concise. On the other hand, ahhhh!! It's supposed to be short?! It's going to take some mad editing skillz to make it understandable in only 300 words. I was like, okay okay, breathe, breathe....300 words....I can do 300 words...

btw, if you've been IMing with me and have found my font to be unsightly large and bulky, fear no more, all you need to do is download my new font.

Steps to accomplish this:
1. Go here, open, unzip, drag to desktop.
2. Go into the control panel.
3. Go into Font folder.
4. Drag Architect font into folder.
5. Delete font from desktop.
(optional)6. Close IM window if you were IMing with me previous to performing the above 5 steps.

The CS midterm wasn't too bad. I completely flubbed the last question though, it was on a For statement. I had like five minutes to think of something and what I thought of didn't work but oh well, my TA was saying that they'll try to grade easy. It was a summing program, and my answer I think comes out to something around 20, and I think the real answer is something closer to 50. Then I called my dad to talk about some FASFA PIN thingie and I explained the CS problem to him and he was like, blah blah blah, and I was like oh. Yeah that makes a lot of sense.
Moral of the story? I can't add.

For those of you who read the comments, this is what emblic looks like:
Phyllanthus emblica
A hard and sour fruit that is valued in Asia as a thirst-quencher and for its ascorbic acid content (i.e. Vitamin C).

And breadfruit, more commonly and probably accurately known as Durian:
Durio zibethinus
Most Asians know this fruit and either have an intense dislike for it, or at least have parents that love it. Very smelly, banned in airports and hotels, and will very likely kill you if it fell off the tree.

And since this happens to be a picture blog...
Common CS Oversights.
I woke up semi-early this morning to study CS and when I got back to the room, Diane was up and she was like, yeah...I need to change my shirt before I can go out. Apparently she had woken up in the usual CS daze from staying up until dawn programming and failed to function coherently as a human being. Diane--"So I went into the bathroom and the girl in there gave me this really weird look...then I came back to the room and realized why."
Yes...not only is the shirt inside out, it's also backwards.
