I am an Asian-American college student majoring in Technical Communications at the University of Washington. My Spring Quarter 05 Schedule: posTComm, TC 403, TC 407, ARCH 251, ESS 495.
All I need to do is find a PAID summer internship and I'm set!
So if you read everyone else's blogs you'd know that Steve got us Asian TCers bubble tea from WOW last night. It rocked, I told him my fave was Cookies n' Cream, and he didn't believe me, he was like...no, I'm talking about bubble tea, and I'm like, yeah, Cookies n' Cream. I've been totally crushing on a couple songs lately:
Ben Folds Five--I Paid My Money & Rubber Sled & Rockin' The Suburbs
Weezer--Hash Pipe
Jimmy Eat World--Sweetness
Sadly, I'm getting sick of doing readings/'discussions' for Bricolage, I know, I was so excited for it and now, because I've missed a few meetings and I've had to come late to all of them, I haven't read as many of the pieces so I don't feel like I'm credible and also I hate the way the judging works. Next year, I'm just going to submit stuff, forget about reading. I'm going to do it the easy way and just get into the book. I think my short story (you know, "Burn, Baby, Burn") is fairly decent AND it's under 3,000 words. The only short story I've ever written and liked. And I have hecka tons of poems. I'm sure I can find something. They're really picky though...and really arbitrary about what they like...which is why I'm not enjoying the judging process as much as I would like. bleh. It's the gut reaction, not...this line sucks, it sounds like they're trying too hard. Okay, maybe I'm just a little bitter because one of the poems that I really liked got cut. It was this really cute one about "I am open to you/Be open to me/not like a window or a door/but like the crawlspace/underneath a house." Something like that anyway. I really liked it. It was cute. But they didn't like the repetitiveness of the first two lines. Which are scattered throughout the poem and I think give the poem a backbone. Said it cheapened the poem, make it too lovey dovey. Anyway :P. I wish I could just take the poem and blog it here. Then at least I'd be able to appreciate it. Grrrr.
Alright, that's enough bashing for now. I'm going to wake up early and go get the projector and laptop for Sat. Night's Movie showing in 5/6th Floor S. Haggett of a movie, some funny one about some guy's day off. Yup, and we're making pancakes and french toast for dinner. My Bible study group rocks.

Hmmmm...is that picture of me too scary? :) Anyway, an interesting thing occured to me today when I was at the Abstract Workshop. I think that for some reason, when someone is talking they tend to spend most of their time speaking right to me. Like they look directly at me and talk. Is that weird? Does anyone else feel like it happens to them? It's kind of nice, like I'm monopolizing them, but at the same time I'm wondering, do they know what they're doing? I definitely have the opposite of whatever Steve has, of not looking at someone when they're talking to me. Maybe I don't look at people tons when I'm talking, but I always stare straight at the person and look in their eyes when they're talking to me. For extended periods of time. I guess that means I'm a good listener? :) I enjoy listening to people talk usually, unless of course it's really annoying. But I'm good at changing the subject too so it's not a big deal. So yeah, feel free to talk to me. I'll definitely listen and look into your eyes while you talk. I mean, I'm really wondering if maybe everyone thinks that the person up there talking is talking directly at them and always looking at them, and that I'm just making a big deal of it, but I seriously feel like I tend to be the one that they spend the most time looking straight at when they're talking. So yeah, if we're ever in a smallish group and there's someone talking a lot about something random, see who they're looking at most of the time. It'd be interesting to get some evidence on this theory that I'm throwing out there.

I finally have a little bit of time to update everyone on how my weekend went!
I feel like I deserve a break since I spent a good couple hours doing the CS homework, and they all work and it's all good. So yeah, I was having a little bit of a breakdown Friday night/Saturday morning but that got worked out, I did end up going downstairs for a while, but mostly just sat there and thought. Then some interesting goings on happened in the lounge:
So that's Seattle for ya, the highest art per capita, and there's proof of it.
The rest of Saturday, I woke up to Dan calling me and telling me he was going to leave from the Tri-Cities soon, so I got up and go ready. Went down to QFC to get some flowers, it was super cute, I absolutely LOVE how they wrap the flowers, they're super good at it. I got some daisys, red and white tulips and they wrapped them in green tissue paper with twine. Twine rocks. Anyway, didn't have much for lunch, but then Dan and his family came over at around 2 in the afternoon. We all sat in my room and chatted and got caught up for two hours, and opened V-day presents :). Then we went to the University Inn to get checked in. We sat in the hotel room for a while, trying to figure out what was happening with dinner, and sadly, Aunt Kathy and Anna and Todd had to cancel with us for salmon, so we went by ourselves. It was such a God thing, we got there and they were like, do you have reservation and we were like um, no. And they were like oh.......oh wait! You're in luck, someone canceled. And Dan's mom and I even got a rose each, and mine is currently upside down by my mirror drying. The food was great, and afterwards, they drove Dan and I back to my dorm and we played some ping-pong and hung out. Then we went on the Juice Run, but sadly it was a small turnout because everyone was gone. We had a good time making fun of the Iraq newscast by Geraldo. Yup that's right, the same guy with the talk show of the same name.
Sunday morning, I woke up early and walked to the University Inn to have breakfast with Dan and his family in the hotel room. I picked him a flower on the way off of a bush, it was a really nice one. We had fun getting the food and I had oatmeal. Then Dan and I got our gear together and walked to the IMA, I got to show him a little bit around campus, and point out stuff. We sat on the concrete outside of the IMA for a few minutes until they let us in, and during that time we whispered about all the people who had rackets, whether or not their rackets were racquetball rackets and how we could dispose of them. Turns out there was like no one playing racquetball and we played in Court 9. Then we had a nice little walk back to the hotel and we all drove downtown and checked out Aunt Kathy's workplace. Then we walked to the dim sum place (Honey Court Seafood Restaurant) and I had fun ordering for everyone. Man, we had these awesome seaweed/crab deep fried stuff and they were so good. A visit to Uwajimaya was next, and I think we all basically bought a LOT of candy, mostly the Japanese Hi-Chews. Then we did some more walking around in the UVillage and went to QFC and got ice cream. Then Dan and I went to Jubilee and had another Juice Run. Then sadly, he had to go back to his hotel. I went out into the lounge and played some Mario Kart and got my butt whooped every single time. I didn't get to sleep until 5, so I slept in the next day until 2 PM. Dan called me at 10 to say he was leaving from Seattle, and then again at 2 to say that he was leaving for Pullman. I got up and read Jewish Lit and got not much else done. And that ladies and gents, is a full and fairly detailed account of my 3 day weekend.
Last night, on the juice run, I had the bright idea of getting a Black Cherry Bubble Lollypop, and it was good.
Hahaha, yay for colored tongues!

Spending time with Dan is great, especially when we play racquetball! I beat him! 6 to 4. It was both our first times at the IMA and it's a pretty nice place.
