Yesterday was so jam-packed! Went to classes, spent the hour break reading on the 3rd floor of Allen Library but I'm STILL not done with Heartbreaking Work. I went to my dance extra credit performance thing and it went alright, all of us practiced beforehand but it totally fell apart the first time we did it in the beginning, we're supposed to do this sequence together and we completely missed the count and couldn't figure out who to follow. It was better the second time around tho. Then I came back, took a quick shower then Michael and I went to the ACM BBQ where we saw a bunch of people, and a couple profs get dunked...it was pretty cold too. Nearly got hit by a frisbee thrown by Ben, this guy that I know from Early Fall Start, and had some fun yelling at him about it. Then we all went to OHS. It was a bit cool and really windy but I wasn't too cold. Ahhhhh. I just remembered. Michael and I each made these really cool splatter paint pictures but I think we forgot them on the table near the very end after I was finishing eating my 3rd corn on the cob...mmmm. It was pretty rad, we had so much sugar though, an entire bag of cotton candy, a small thing of ice cream then later that night I had a popsicle. We all watched the CSE, I mean...CSA, perform their awesome hip-hop dance routine and it was kickin...*sigh* so wish I could do that!!! Anyway, as far as activites, we did the rock wall which was super easy, both obstacle courses, wrote a postcard to the troops, tried to do the "use the big heavy rubber hammer to hit this thing and make the bell ring" thing but it was a really pathetic attempt, and another major thing that happened was that we sat in the stands of the stadium for a good oh...half an hour to an hour I think so we could be in this Groucho Marx Glasses world record breaking thing. We got on the big screen a couple times and the music was pretty funny, and we were sitting right next to Noah, and Felix so when I called Steve and tried to get him and the rest of the TC group to come sit and suffer with us, he was like, yeah, I saw you up there, you're sitting right next to Noah and all them. So that was cool. Man, I'm really sad that we left our splattered paint pictures there. They were really awesome. I spent the rest of the night just hanging out with Michael, his brother called and harrassed us a couple times trying to get him home because he was entertaining a bunch of his buddies and tried to entice him by saying drunkenly, "Hey, we have a lot of beer here!" It was a good party night, everyone was up until late. Which means a good deal of sleeping in today! However, it seemed to have been raining/is still raining outside right now so I'm kind of like ugh...what can I eat here for brunch? Still debating whether or not I should go see Mean Girls in the theater...apparently Brent DC++ed it and they watched it last night *WITHOUT US*!!!! How uncouth. :P

Due to the several flames I've received on my TagBoard, I've decided it wasn't worth the trouble...besides the fact that hardly anyone uses it, so instead there's a comment link there where you can leave tagboard-like comments. Come on, give me some sugar.

this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

The dance concert wasn't really what I was expecting, although I really wasn't expecting anything. There were only 3 pieces, but it lasted 1 1/2 hours so they were pretty long, the middle one was my favorite, although in the last one I really liked the solid colored costumes. I was slightly dozing in the first and last ones though, just too much of the whole arm waving around thing.

I was going to work on my 200 word essay for my clit class that's going to be a detailed analysis of the final episode of The Bachelor...BUT all of my notes are in my bag which is back in my room. And I'm at Odie. And I have the hiccups. But anyway, I am most definitely going to see the Trisha Brown Dance Concert tonight because the next two nights are not good. Today has been pretty interesting so far. Was actually on time for my dance class however, Jeff, the modern dance instructor guy, has the flu and so we were told to work on our group projects instead. Which is the reason I'm here killing time until 3:45 so that I can work on it some more with my group. So instead of dancing, we went to Odie and watched a video to get inspired. Then in my clit class we watched the season finale to The Bachelor...and it was really cheesy and fairy tale-like, except for the fact that one of the girls was so nervous that she had to make the limo stop and she got out and threw up. And worst yet, she didn't get picked. Then I went back to Haggett, took a shower, decided that since I shaved my legs, it was a warm enough day to show them off. So thus I'm in my funky plaid skirt (which interestingly enough, I got from my mom). Then after my ME class, I hung out on the HUB lawn with Kelly and we bounced to the jamming joints of Jurrasic5 and some other guys that rapped really well. It was way tite. Then I had Teriaki with Josh and he walked with me to the HUB where I checked out the winners for the Engineering Art Contest. Yeah, wow, there's some really rad stuff, but there were also a few pieces that I didn't particularly care for. Talked to CRU Trisha for a while and had some cookies and juice :) The dance concert should be pretty cool, hopefully I'll see someone there or Diane'll finish her CS in time and go with me. Recently, the RRC listproc (honors activities/random crap e-mail list) has been in a tizzy with a bunch of people ranting about the prices of food, specifically salad, at McMahon 8. So supposedly there's a 'stand-in' at 6PM tonight in front of the salad bar. Bring food. Dunno how well they'll be able to pull it off, but if I'm able, I'd definitely like to make a quick showing. The dance thing starts at 7 though and I need to get there at least 1/2 early to get a discounted ticket. Viva la Revolucion!

An interesting thing happened this morning. I had the worst time taking off the shirt I was wearing for dance to change into normal street clothes. It was honestly really awful, that crossing your arms movement that you make to take a shirt off? Yeah, I couldn't do that. I got about shoulder height with my arms crossed like that and couldn't make it. The shirt was too tight and it was a t-shirt, to take it off by putting your arms inside so I basically just struggled and sucked it up and finally got it off. It was slightly painful. It totally had to do with the stuff that we did the day before which used a lot of our back and that made my back sore. The back is fine now, but it's the shoulders that are still sore. It actually looks like OHS might be a lot of fun, however, Friday seems to be extremely packed. I have the dance extra credit 1st performance from about 2:30-3:45ish, then Diane wants me to go to the ACM BBQ (I'll fit in...:) Java-w00t?) and Mike's going to come hang out with me...dunno if the shopping for clothes thing is going to work this time, but there's also talk of going to the Trisha Brown Dance Concert (which I MUST make one of the concerts thur, fri, or sat or else my dance grade is screwed) or going to Mean Girls. I suggest watching the trailer for it...it's really funny in a "I'm so freaking glad I'm out of HS" way. Anyway, plenty to do.

I can see why so many people like New Found Glory, they have really awesome lyrics. Although I haven't heard this song, I think the lyrics really rock.
New Found Glory-Catalyst--who am i
don't say it'll stay this way forever
i'm afloat in the ocean trying not to sink
i'm a crack in the asphalt you walk by on the street
i'm a falling star you'll never see
the lash in your eye, the i in "team"
so who am i?
i'm the lesson you'll never learn
the sickness that was never your concern
i'm the big suprise at the end of the night
the bridge in the gap, the corner of your mind
so who am i?
i'm holding on
yes i am careful what i wish for
i am the knot in your stomach
the phlegm in the your throat
the message saying you're not home
don't say it'll stay this way forever
(you dont know, you dont dont, you never know)
don't say it'll stay this way forever
(you dont know, you dont dont, you never know)
i'm afloat in the ocean trying not to sink
I cut out a few of the repeated lines, but I think you get the idea. And I was just browsing through Josh's site and dude, he has two recent pictures of me. I almost completely forgot about them. One of them was when I ate lunch with him and Peter and we were sitting there commenting on the bust and waist size of the girls that were walking by (very scientific really), and the other one's kind of a random one I just got back from getting my mail.
With these two writing classes I'm worried that I'm going to feel burnt out from writing soon. I'm not quite sure if that has already happened a couple assignments ago and I'm just in denial, or I've just been really out of it, cuz it seems like I should be getting way higher grade wise on these assignments but instead I've been sucking it up. Very uncool.

I feel bad now if I don't blog because pretty much all I've been doing is hanging out with people and it feels like if I hung out with someone and didn't blog about it, it makes that time seem like it wasn't blogworthy, and it totally was!! You are all worth it!!
Alright, so the Undergrad Research Symposium went really well, SK and I were competing to see who could get the most # of people to come talk to us about our research and guess who won? Yup, yours truly! It was super awesome too, this woman was looking at my poster and was all like, whoa, my husband works for the company that made the machine that you tried to optimize in your research! So later she drags her husband to talk to me and we chat for a bit and he actually takes a picture of my poster! One crappy thing about the whole thing was that the 'sack lunck' that they promised was basically just snacks, a small bottle of water, trail mix, a cliff bar and 3 Hershey Kisses. That folks, is NOT lunch. Anyway, I thought my Bible study was going to leave immediately afterwards to go to Danger's house for our little retreat but we end up not leaving until a little after 5. The drive was uneventful, and when we got into Snoquamish, we had dinner at a teriyaki place and then went to a grocery store across the street and bought food for breakfast. Danger's house is really cool, you can see pictures of the entire retreat at Intervarsity Pictures. We made a big BONFIRE (yay for fire!!!) and roasted smores. Then we played 25 words or less, which was pretty cool. Then sleep. Then we woke up, I smothered Colin with a pillow in a futile attempt to scare/wake him. Then we had a big yummy breakfast of scrambled eggs with Velveta, pancakes, juice, sausage and bacon. Then we jetted out of there and went to the Volunteer Park where we spent an hour reading the Bible or just being still on our own, and then got back together and talked for a bit and everyone went and tried to do some karate while I read. It drizzled.
Sunday I went to the UDistrict Street Fair and spent all of my money on food....ahhhhh, corn on the cob.....sooooo goood!! Zach bought some soap. Then we went to UPC with Diane, SK, David, and Ryan, and got gyros afterwards. Worked hard the rest of the night :)
Monday I went to a Bricolage meeting and got 'elected' (meaning there was no one else running against me) for the Development Manager position. Then at night, I watched Battle Royale, a messed up bloody Lord of the Flies Japanese-style.
Which brings me finally to today. I filled out an application for a job at Odie, realized that I didn't have a cent on me nor my Husky Card so I ended up having to pay 16 cents on my credit card to get it printed. Kicked it with Ben playing pool and then chatting it up on the HUB lawn while he experienced these yummy burrito type things. I worked on some ME too, so I think I got a fair amount done today :) Hmmm, I wonder if these short synopsis-like blogs are easier to read and thus more preferable than if I crammed out a bunch of detailed ones every day?

When you love someone so deeply
They become your life
It's easy to succumb to overwhelming fears inside
Blindly I imagined I could
Keep you under glass
Now I understand to hold you
I must open up my hands
And watch you rise
Chorus
Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me
We truly were meant to be
So spread your wings and fly
Butterfly
Verse
I have learned that beauty
Has to flourish in the light
Wild horses run unbridled
Or their spirit dies
You have given me the courage
To be all that I can
And I truly feel your heart will
Lead you back to me when you're
Ready to land
Chorus
Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me
We truly were meant to be
So spread your wings and fly
Butterfly
Bridge
I can't pretend these tears
Aren't over flowing steadily
I can't prevent this hurt from
Almost overtaking me
But I will stand and say goodbye
For you'll never be mine
Until you know the way
it feels to fly
Chorus
Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me
We truly were meant to be
So spread your wings and fly
Butterfly
Chorus
Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me
We truly were meant to be
So spread your wings and fly
Butterfly
So flutter through the sky
Butterfly
Spread your wings and fly
Butterfly
