I am an Asian-American college student majoring in Technical Communications at the University of Washington. My Spring Quarter 05 Schedule: posTComm, TC 403, TC 407, ARCH 251, ESS 495.
All I need to do is find a PAID summer internship and I'm set!
Back in the TC, but not quite relaxed yet. The ride back was interesting, I didn't know my laptop could double as a mp3 player (you know those little tape things that you stick into the car? Yeah, the other end went into my lappy). Chatted with Slava about history and running while Zach watched anime and Aimee slept. I've already had my UO fix for the day...but now it's night...but I've finally made back the 60k that I 'donated' (however unwillingly) to the Delucia banker. I had to buy armor twice, once because I went with some random guy to fight a daemon (without my spell book so I couldn't heal) and got killed and spent forever trying to get Princess (my horse) resurrected so that my body disappeared. Then I accidentally tried to loot a dead orc that a kirin killed and ended up gray and got killed by a bunch of fanatics in town. Then I did e-mail. This is not one of those, you log in, briefly glance over the three or four mgs that you have type of an event, no, it's more like an hour to two hour ordeal. It's mostly my UW mail. Hotmail and Gmail are for more personal emails while UW sends me a brick load of Honors, Tech Com, IV, Xanga, Phi Eta Sigma, and NCSC e-mails, all of which either require reading, deleting, entering something into my PDA, and/or e-mails back or Xanga comments. I would definitely have to say that doing e-mail takes up a good deal of my time. Man it gets dark so early now :( pitch black already and it's only 5. It's amazing, Ben told me about Death Cab for Cutie just a few weeks ago, and now it's like EVERYONE has heard of it and loves it. I haven't been able to listen to much of the songs I've dled but I definitely like the Postal Service. Which was another band that my friend Nick introed me to and soon after was everywhere. Do I know the right people to talk to or what ;)? Another thing that's 90% certain is that I'm going to be living in the same house as Ben! I'm super excited. However, since my parents are going to be gone the entire winter break, moving will be interesting and also so will procuring some furniture. However I remain optimistic that all will work out. I've also vaguely started thinking about what to do during Spring Break. Anyone want to travel with me? Location TBD. I've also been working on #4 of my list, but it means I need to scrape together a resumé over Thanksgiving Break, bleh, it's one of those love-hate things, I would love to have one to flaunt around, but at the same time, I dread the thought of having to dig through everything to fill in the blanks. It's college admissions all over again.
Happy Thanksgiving! For you non-Honors or ex-Honors folks who have not yet gotten off the RRC list (or have failed miserably to do so) here's a thanksgiving joke:
The Parrot
A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The
parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.
Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and
laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the
bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words,
playing soft music and anything else he could think of to
"clean up" the bird's vocabulary. Finally, John was fed up
and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John
shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder.
John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird
and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot
squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was
total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing
that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to
the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's
stretched arms and said, "I believe I may have offended you
with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful
for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do
everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable
behavior." John was stunned at the change in the bird's
attitude. As he was about to ask the parrot what had made
such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird continued,
"May I ask what the turkey did?"
